Installation & Care
A careful dry fit and a well-prepared surface are the starting points for a successful flooring project. Read all instructions supplied with your selected sheet and backing before installation.
1. Check the surface
The installation surface must be compatible with the adhesive, smooth, stable, clean and completely dry. Remove loose material, wax, oil and other contamination using a method suitable for the substrate. Test compatibility and adhesion on a small area before the main installation.
2. Template and dry-fit
Make paper templates around curves, fittings and openings. Keep drains, hinges and moving parts clear. Check the direction of the texture and the alignment of adjacent pieces. Confirm the fit before removing the backing liner.
3. Cut the sheet
Work on a stable, protected cutting surface with suitable tools. Keep hands clear of the cutting path. Cut gradually and check the template against the deck as you work. Do not cut directly against the boat surface.
4. Apply the flooring
Peel the release liner gradually, align the sheet carefully and press evenly across the surface. Work methodically to avoid trapped air and poorly bonded edges. Follow the instructions supplied with your adhesive for application conditions and any required time before use.
Routine care
- Remove grit and loose debris regularly.
- Clean gently with fresh water and, when suitable, a mild cleaner tested on a small area. Rinse and let the surface dry.
- Avoid aggressive solvents, abrasive cleaning tools and directing high-pressure water at sheet edges.
- Inspect edges and high-wear areas periodically. Address lifting or damage before continued use.
- Keep sharp objects and concentrated heat away from the flooring.
